Inspiration + Design
Fun fact, I actually designed the knit version of this design before I designed the crochet version. Funny right? When I originally started my business and decided on a name, I honestly did not see myself knitting. The reason for this is because I tried to start knitting when I was in high school, and for some reason I just could not get the hang of it. I kept dropping stitches; it made me so frustrated that I just gave up. This was prior to Youtube, so of course all I had were books. No one in my family knits so I did not have any help from anyone. A little off topic, I know. Back to this design. A lot of the time, designs just come to me. Sometimes I will see them in my head prior to even starting, and other times I will just start and let my fingers do the rest of the work and see what happens. With this crochet design, I wanted to try and get as close as I could to the knit design as possible so that it will eventually become a collection. I promise, this will all make sense later on when I show you the knit version!
Yarn + Hook
This pattern is designed in both #4, worsted weight, and #5, bulky weight. I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn for my #4, worsted weight, version, and then I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Chunky Yarn for my #5, bulky weight version. I enjoy the I Love This Yarn collection from Hobby Lobby because it’s super soft and provides a much better quality feel, which a much needed affordable price! What is not to love about a great, cheap yarn?
For my hook, I actually used Clover hooks this time. I know you all are so used to my obsession with my Furl’s Crochet hooks, but I wanted to give the Clover brand a try and honestly, I was not disappointed. The Clover hooks provide a great lightweight feel to them, while also being agronomical, all for a very cheap price in comparison to the Furl’s Crochet hooks. While I always recommend going with Furl’s Crochet brand for hook, if you are not ready to spend that kind of cash on your hook, I would suggest going with Clover’s brand.
